Thunderstorm Watch VS.Thunderstorm Warning

5/22/2020 (Permalink)

As we go further into spring, we can expect more storms to come our way. It is important to be prepared for storms. In order to know how to be prepared for storms, we also have to know when to be prepared.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch

A severe thunderstorm watch means that the potential exists for the development of thunderstorms which may produce large hail or damaging winds. A watch is issued but the SPC (Storm Prediction Center).

Severe Thunderstorm WARNING

A severe thunderstorm warning means that a severe thunderstorm is occurring or is imminent based on Doppler radar information or a reliable spotter report. A warning is issued by the local National Weather Services.
